Pair of Italo-corinthian black-figure olpes of the Rosoni Painter. 580 - 460 BC. Height 39,1 and 39,8cm, ø corpus 16,6 and 16,8cm. Inside tondo with maeander, in it a bearded satyr with panther. Large jugs with straight rim and rotelles at the profiled handles. Each with five animal-friezes depicting deers and hinds, goats, panthers and lions as well as swans. On the larger one as the central motive a male sphinx. Numerous details in red. On the rotelles and on the neck white dotted rosettes. Belonging pair! The larger exemplar intact, the smaller one at the lower part reassembled from fragments, a little piece of the rim at the mouth is missing.
