Photo pasted on the mount. At the bottom of themount is the inscription of Alexander Glazunov: “To the handsome and unforgettable grandsone of my / teacher, gifted musician-composer, / dear collaborater of the Schubert Competition / Georgy Mikhailovich Rimsky-Korsakov / June 2, 1928 Sincerely devoted A. Glazunov”. Below is the musical notation by the hand of Alexander Glazunov. On the back is the inscription of the widow G. M. Rimsky-Korsakov.
Information:
Alexander Konstantinovich Glazunov (1865 – 1936) , Russian composer, music teacher, and conductor of the late Russian Romantic period. He served as director of the Saint Petersburg Conservatory between 1905 and 1928 and was instrumental in the reorganization of the institute into the Petrograd Conservatory, then the Leningrad Conservatory, following the Bolshevik Revolution. He continued heading the Conservatory until 1930, though he had left the Soviet Union in 1928 and did not return. The best-known student under his tenure during the early Soviet years was Dmitri Shostakovich. Georgy Mikhailovich Rimsky-Korsakov (1901-1965) , composer, musical teacher. Grandson N.A.
