Information:
In the period of the 1950s and 1960s, the so-called "atomic romance" created a large number of projects based on atomic energy, many of which remained unrealized. A separate direction was the development of mobile nuclear power plants. The nuclear floating power plant "Sever" ("North") became the first floating nuclear power plant project presented in the USSR. Unlike the projects of self-propelled nuclear installations, floating power plants have not been implemented. In the late 1960s, the project was frozen. In the 2010s. Russia decided to return to the development of floating nuclear power plants - so, in 2020, "Academician Lomonosov" was put into operation.
