MEROVINGIAN HIGH KARAT GOLD PENDANT WITH RED GARNET CABOCHON
Ca. AD 400 - 500. A drop-shaped pendant set with a deep red garnet cabochon, mounted in a gold casing. The stone sits within a plain inner frame and is surrounded by twisted and beaded applied outer borders. A thick suspension loop formed of plaited gold wire is attached at the top.
